Clara called to the Bar in 2023 as the Lord Reid Scholar. She now has a busy practice in criminal law and public law.
Criminal law
Clara is regularly instructed as junior Counsel alone in the High Court, the Appeal Court, and the Extradition Court.
She has been instructed as junior to senior Counsel in numerous serious and organised crime, and major crime cases, including murder, culpable homicide, bribery, and fraud.
Public law
Clara frequently acts for both Petitioners and Respondents in judicial reviews. She is often instructed in cases involving age disputes, the certification of asylum claims, housing and homelessness matters, and wrongful detention.
Clara is instructed in the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry and has been instructed in several Fatal Accident Inquiries.
Prior to calling to the Bar, Clara worked as a Procurator Fiscal Depute in Glasgow and Hamilton. She thereafter worked in a specialist immigration law firm, and latterly in the immigration department at Burness Paull LLP.
As a solicitor, Clara was seconded to Eurojust in The Hague, Netherlands, and she maintains a particular interest in international law, cross-border crime, human trafficking offences, and human rights in a criminal law context.
